Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Licensing observed that the fire extinguisher was due to be serviced on 2020/08/26.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the fire extinguisher is serviced and ready to use in an event of an emergency.

Comments

At the inspection dated Mar. 10, 2021 there were 20 children, 3 staff and 1 manager present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee include providing a written response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

A COVID-19 Risk Screening was also completed.

Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
- Bound notebook for minor incident logs
- Continue to follow COVID-19 policy and procedures
- Playing outdoors for longer periods of time
