209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)] Observation: 1. 2x 1000 kg large bags of peanuts on the second level of shelving noted with small hole in the corner of bag, peanut bits and mouse droppings around pallet - last aisle on the right (in front of double doors connecting to adjacent unit) 2. Open bag of poppy seeds spilled onto cardboard - mouse droppings noted around bag Corrective Action(s): Ensure all food is protected from contamination. Place all opened bags or containers of products into a pest proof container with lid. Find a secure way to protect the large bags of peanut products from pest contamination. Correction date: immediately Violation Score: 9 304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)] Observation: Rodent droppings noted throughout the facility: - along the walls and in hard to reach corners - along the back walls of all the walk-in coolers - on pallets Correction: 1) Clean rodent droppings as soon as they are found using a 1 part bleach in 10 parts water solution 2) Follow all recommendations from pest technician 3) Ensure that all foods are inspected for rodent damage. Rodent damaged foods must be discarded. 4) Insulation bits noted around doors of all coolers. Note: Latest pest control report (March 22, 2019) noted that 5 mice were found in traps in the interior of the facility and another 5 found in the premises adjacent. Pest control service conducted on April 3, 2019 however no report is available at time of inspection. Send a copy of pest control report to FHA - Business card provided to Everland Natural Foods. Technician inspects facility every two weeks. Visits may need to be more frequent if pest levels are not reduced. Corrective Action(s): Correction date: 1 week Violation Score: 9 305 - Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)] Observation: Possible pest entry points and attractants: 1. Holes in wall noted in warehouse side of office wall 2. Missing grate in floor drain under dripping pipe at end of 2nd aisle of warehouse 3. Bucket of water noted in 4th walk in cooler corner 4. Container of sticky food spilled on the floor in 2nd aisle Corrective Action(s): 1. Seal all holes with durable smooth easy to clean material - recommend stainless steel sheet or equivalent 2. Add grate to floor drain to prevent possible pest entry 3. Remove bucket of water that may attract pests Correction date: 1 week Violation Score: 9
