Introduction

An unscheduled Routine Inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: During Inspection licensing observed;
-A wooden planter with metal banding and a nail coming loose
-Plastic bags storage accessible to children
-Storage of music player and computer, with cables accessible to children

Comments

Summary of Inspection:.
During today’s inspection, there were 3 children, 1 staff, and the manager on site
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a written corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
Legislation regarding the nap space requirement for children under 36 months was reviewed. Licensing advised that a nap space be available, which is free from storage of items, for children under 36 months.
The use of space with storage and tables was discussed. Manager explained that they have planned two days where the facility will close to spend time creating an organization system for storage of materials.
Discussed the CRC requirements for new staff, and renewal of current staff.
