Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #KINE-BUDMQ2 have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation: A review of 3 staff files found that 1 file did not contain verified character references.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff files are complete

Comments

During this inspection, there were 26 children and 5 staff present. At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The Licensing Officer met with the manager and discussed the following:
Documentation of Evacuation drills once per year
CRC through Fraser Health - Bulletin provided via email

This report was written off site; therefore, no signatures were captured at this time. Time reflects onsite visit plus report writing time. A copy of this document will be provided to the facility via email.
