Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing Officer observed the following:
- An air purifier on a dresser, plugged into a low electrical outlet. The cord was unsecured and within the reach of a playpen used for napping, posing a risk if a child were to pull the cord along with a potential risk of entanglement. The Licensee addressed this concern at the time of the inspection.
- A covered hot tub filled with water that was not locked or fully latched.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

Comments

During this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. As part of this Routine inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.
The information contained in the report was discussed with the Licensee and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing emailed a copy of the report and the risk assessment to the facility.
