-Operation processes plant-based, dairy-free alternative products.
- General sanitation of premises appears satisfactory.
- Handwash stations are operational - provided with hot and cold running water, liquid soap and papertowels.
- Staff wear hair restraints, uniforms, and change footwear before entering production areas. Handwashing and glove use procedures in place before employees enter production areas.
- Temperatures of refrigeration equipment (Stage / WIP 1 and Stage / WIP 2 Coolers, Finished Goods) are maintained at acceptable temperatures (≤4 deg C) per temperature monitoring records. Units are equipped with thermometers to facilitate temperature monitoring.
- Packaging room and allergen control room temperatures are maintained between 7-10 deg C.
- Dry ingredient storage area appears satisfactory. Storage area is organized, dry ingredients are protected from contamination.
- Equipment available for pH meter calibration (for products where acidity is a CCP).
- Tunnel Washer is operating per manufacturer's specifications. Equipment is manually sanitized before use in designated production rooms.
- Sanitizers and cleaning chemicals systems/dispensers have been set up (EcoLab). Operator has ability to test and verify sanitizer concentrations. Records are maintained. Full list of chemicals, usage, and application information has been provided including:
Foam Force LP 1.6 - 3.9% (chlorinated foam alkaline) is used for all equipment, conveyors, floors, walls, and drain cleaning.
Oxonia Active 2000 - 3500 ppm (peroxyacetic acid sanitizer) is for general sanitizing of equipment and environmental surfaces, fogging, and items washed in tunnel washer.
SterBac KQ-12 800-1200 ppm Quat is used for sanitizing drains after cleaning.
- Clean-in-Place system for cleaning oil silos. CIP system is activated 24 hours before filling.
- Premises has a regular pest control service program with a pest control company. Follow all recommendations provided by your pest control company.
COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

- Operator has developed a COVID-19 Safety Plan.
- Measures in place:
- Educational signs posted.
- Operator states that ongoing education and notices are regularly communicated to employees.
- Employee traffic flow inside the facility has been developed.
- Sign in procedures in place (temperature checks, don PPE, handwashing and alcohol based hand rub available). Health screening for workers/ visitors in implemented.
- Visitor policy in place.
- Face masks policy in place. Face shields are mandatory for workers who work in close proximity to each other.
- Shifts are in cohorts. Staff can be easily identified to day/ shift/ line/ job duty worked for contact tracing purposes.
- Staff are divided into zones. Operator installed additional zoned lunchrooms/ break areas (portables). Zones are not to crossover.
- Staff are limited to location (no back and forth between Daiya processing plant locations).
- Occupancy limits placed at each work area/ room.
- Sick/ illness policy developed and in place.
- Office spaces provide adequate physical distancing between workstations. Physical barriers put up if physical distancing is not possible.
**Remove additional chairs in Driver Staging Area to allow for adequate physical distancing between persons (minimum 2 metres/ 6 ft apart).
- Cleaning and disinfecting procedures/ measures in place for drivers, forklift operators, etc.
- High touch surfaces have been identified for increased cleaning and disinfecting.
- Recommendations:
- Remove additional chairs in Driver Staging Area to allow for adequate physical distancing between persons (minimum 2 metres/ 6 ft apart).
- Provide cubicles/ develop system for staff in locker areas for larger items i.e. work boots
- Label hangers in uniform area (for uniforms/ lab coats that are going to be worn again the same day) to avoid mix-ups.
- Regularly audit COVID-19 Safety Plan document. Ensure that document is up-to-date and meets the requirements of WorkSafeBC.
