Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #SVAA-C3NT7E have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: There was no record for the May 2022 fire drill in the OSC program. The Manager said that it was practiced but not recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure monthly fire drills are practiced and recorded.

Comments

At this inspection there were 62 children and 13 staff and the Manager present. At this inspection, the above contravention was identified. The Manager will send Licensing a written response addressing the contraventions and Licensing will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following was discussed/reviewed with the Manager:
- Ensuring the woodchips are raked all over the ground for an equal amount of resilient surfacing in the playground
- Communicable Disease Prevention Plan as per WorkSafe requirements
- System to ensure medication is not expired
- Cleaning system for nap mats

The contents of this report was discussed with the Manager and a copy was emailed on June 1, 2022. This report was written off-site at the Tri-Cities Health Protection office and time spent includes report writing.
