Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation: Hot water in the washroom was measured at 54 degrees Celsius.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure hot water accessible to children does not exceed 49 degrees Celsius to prevent scalding.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19030 - CCLR s.55(2)(a) - A licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after (a) a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The facilities log book was reviewed and found to include a reportable incident that occurred on November 26, 2018 that was not reported to Licensing.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all reportable incidents are reported to Licensing within 24 hours.
