Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed exposed holiday decor wirings on the floor which was within reach of children.

Comments

At the inspection dated Dec. 07, 2021 there were 17 children and 6 staff present. The manager was on-site and assisted with the inspection. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

A COVID-19 Risk Screening was also completed.

The following education/recommendations/discussions were provided:
- Uneven flooring/tape
- More spaces between children's water bottles to avoid cross-contamination
- Bathroom procedures
- Removing wood planks leaned against the wall in the corner of the foyer (currently stored in a way which will not fall)
- Submission of exemptions
- Continue to sanitize and clean the facility including toys and equipment
- Continue to follow COVID-19 policies and procedures
