Introduction

An unscheduled Routine Inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

Contraventions
Previous InspectionContraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 3 staff records were reviewed, one record did not contain the record of immunization. This was corrected on site.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
The COVID-19 Pre-screening was conducted at the door.
During today’s inspection, there were the facility manger, and the licensee present.
At this inspection the above noted contravention was addressed at the time of inspection and no further action by Licensee and Licensing is required at this time.

The following was discussed:
Outdoor fence within the yard dividing the designated licensed facility area with non-useable space was curled and had a gap at the planter giving access to children. One area near the exit of the yard had a wooden toy that was coming apart, and other items to be disposed of, manager stated they would be removing them.
The paper towels for hand washing were stored in a basket, and then the children disposed of the used paper towels in a basket nearby, it was discussed that discarded paper towels could be stored in a closed container.
Summer heat safety was reviewed.
