Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #EGAU-B7BVFJ have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing conducted an inspection of the physical facility and observed the following:

> One of the curtains in the nap room was secured on the ledge of the window sill by a thumb tacks. The concern is that the thumb tack was accessible to the children. The thumb tacks were removed during the inspection.
> A T.V was stationed on a stand that was approximately 1.5 feet tall. The t.v was not secured posing the risk of tipping. The T.V was secured during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment at all times while children are in care.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing conducted an inspection of the physical facility and observed that the hot water temperature exceeded 49 degrees Celsius in the infant program. The hot water was turned off during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the hot water temperature does not exceed 49 degrees Celsius.

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing conducted an inspection of the physical facility and observed that the hand and face towels in the infant program were touching. The staff stated that the towels are washed at the end of the day. The concern is that there can be a transfer of germs given the close proximity of the towels. The staff removed the towels during the inspection and advised they will implement a "one time use" of the towels.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Contraventions were corrected during the inspection.
