Introduction

An scheduled routine inspection was conducted by a Community Care Facilities Licensing Student from the Justice Institute and the Licensing Program Practice Consultant to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services

· Records and Reporting
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #DCAR-ANPURR have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19370 - DLSOP Safe Play Space (maintenance of equipment [b3]) - [bullet 3] Keep a log of all inspections, maintenance and repairs.
Observation: Manager explained that a system in logging inspections, maintenance and repairs of the outdoor play space has been used in the past, although it hasn't been used since 2016. The checks are completed, just not documented.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all inspections, maintenance and repairs are documented regularly.

Comments

A review of the exemptions and temporary placements that have been approved at this facility took place. In this review it was found that one child in the approved request had turned 3 years and was replaced by another child under the original request. Due to the addition of this child changing the expiry date on the original request from August, 2018 to September, 2018, it was explained that this change would need to be discussed with licensing and a new exemption request applied for . The manager will contact the licensing officer assigned to the facility to work through this process.
