Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted on to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12190 - CCLR s.22(2)(b) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation: Licensing reviewed fire drill records, there was no written record of any fire drills conducted from July 2021 till March 2022
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that fire drills are practiced once a month and recorded.
Date to be Corrected: March 25, 2022

STAFFING: 12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation: Licensing noted there was no written record of a yearly emergency plan being implemented.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure, once a year, the emergency plan is practiced.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19060 - CCLR s.57(1)(a)(b)(c) - A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation: Licensing reviewed 4 children's files of which the following was found:
- 2 files missing the sex of the child
- 2 files missing an MSP number
- 4 files missing immunization records
- 4 files missing date of enrolment
- 1 file missing parent contact information
- 2 files missing emergency contact information
- 1 file missing the phone number of a medical practitioner

Licensee informed licensing that 2 childrens files were completly missing.
Corrective Action(s): Please enusre children's files are complete and up to date.
Please enusre that you have a file with all relevent information for each child on site at all times.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Licensing reviewed the daily attendance record and there was no record available for review after June 2021
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that you keep for each child, a daily attendance record indicating for each day whether teh child is absent, or present and the time of arrival and departure.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19160 - CCLR s.57(2)(i) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 4 childrens files of which all were missing a photograph or digital image of the child.
Corrective Action(s): Please enusre you keep for each child a photograph or digital image.

Comments

At the inspection on March 11, 2022 there were 5 children and 1 staff present.
At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed off site and a copy was provided.

The following education was provided:
· First aid kits: contain anti-septic wipes. Discussed removing them from the kit or placing them in a zip lock bag labelled staff only.
