Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Metal callus remover (foot paddle) is disinfected with intermediate level disinfectant.

Observation: Lancets for pimples and pedicure blades for callus removal are to be disposed of into a sharps container (none available).
Corrective Action(s): Operator will be providing a sharps container prior to next use of needles or blades and to provide email confirmation to EHO.

Comments

Routine inspection.
Services provided: Nail Services (manicure, pedicure, foot bath but no artificial nails); Esthetics (facials, waxing, eyelash/brow tinting); and Non-registered Massage.
Ear candling not approved (remove from your list of services or provide details on this service - ear candling using wax candles is not permitted).
General:
- Room has a sink with hot/cold water.
- One service provider and one client per session. Cleaning and disinfecting occurs between clients.
- Hand washing - liquid hand soap and paper towels provided. Non-latex disposable gloves also available.
Chemicals/Disinfectants:
- spray bottle labelled alcohol contains RTU disinfectant - re-label bottle. Spray bottle in cupboard containing disinfectant is unlabelled.
****Label all chemical bottles to accurately show contents. Follow directions for safe and proper use of all chemicals.
**** Watch expiry dates on all chemical disinfectants and use before expiry date (eg RTU exp 10/2022).
Nail Services:
- disposable absorbent files, tissue toes separators, buffers. See above regarding the large drill sanding bands.
- foot bath has a disposable liner new for each client - good. Using intermediate level disinfectant (RTU) as per label to disinfect foot bath as well between clients.
- semi critical titems such as metal cuticle nippers, pushers, clippers - use the high level disinfectant as per directions on the label as discussed. See above regarding metal foot file.
- pedicure blades are single use - provide a sharps container for safe disposal.
Esthetics:
- single use/pre-packaged and sterile needles are used for pimple extraction.
- there is no sharps container - see above.
Eyelash/brow tinting:
- using tints/dyes that are properly labelled to be used for tinting lashes and brows by a trained person.
- if using a container to mix dyes, use a high level disinfectant to disinfect after cleaning.
Waxing:
- disposable, single use waxing strips and wooden spatulas to apply wax. No double dipping - wax clean today - good.
- no roll on waxes - good.
- if using tweezers to break skin, use high level disinfectant to disinfect tweezers after they are cleaned.
Non-registered massage:
- hand washing is in room.
- bed linens and towels are washed and dried (use hot dry cycle) after each client.
