Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulation and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice. Evidence for this report was based on the writer's observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:
Licensing
Physical Facility
Staffing
Policies and Procedures
Care and Supervision
Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
Medication
Nutrition and Food Services
Program
Records and Reporting.

As part of this routine inspection a Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The risk assessment includes any violations identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year 'historical' review fo the facility's compliance and operation.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

This program offers morning and afternoon preschool classes. In each class the Licensee has 2 staff with a maximum group size of 13 children. The program is affiliated with the elementary school and staff files (ensure staff's early childhood educator's certificates have been verified and a copy is maintained in the staff's file) are maintained in the school's office and emergency drills are conducted in conjunction with the school. The facility manager was not present for today's inspection; please ensure this individual receives a copy of this inspection report. If there are any questions regarding this report or any other licensing matter please contact the writer directly.

The writer would like to acknowledge the hard work by the staff for their hard work in achieving a perfect inspection!

NOTE: The writer reviewed various children's medications and noted that there are some medications that will be expiring at the end of December 2017. The staff will remind the families to replace their child's outdated medication as applicable.
