Introduction

An Unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations

STAFFING: 12110 - CCLR s.19(2)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee is satisfied, based on the information available to the licensee under subsection (1) and the licensee's or, in the case of an employee who is not the manager, the manager's own observations on meeting the person, that the person (b) has the personality, ability and temperament necessary to manage or work with children. Observation: Licensing reviewed 2 staff files of which both files did not have any evidence of references being verified. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #SMOY-BL9PYR Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all employee references are verified upon hire. Date to be Corrected: September 10, 2021

Comments

At the inspection on September 01, 2021 there were 5 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed off site and a copy was provided. Visit the CCFL website at www.fraserhealth.ca/childcare for additional resources, and links to the Legislation (CCALA and CCLR). Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. A business card was provided today. During the inspection, Licensing reviewed any findings with the manager. This Report & Risk Assessments were written off site and emailed to the facility.
