306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)] Observation: Rodent droppings and food debris is significant throughout the entire facility: on shelving units, under palletes, and in the walk-in cooler. Corrective Action(s): Remove droppings and food debris. Maintaining a high level of sanitation will help to minimize the presence of pests. > Implement weekly cleaning of the entire facility, including inside the walk-in cooler. > Ensure all hard to reach areas are addressed. Do not push or sweep material under the shelving units and into the corners. Date to be corrected by: October 7, 2022. Routine Facility is for dry storage of herbs and other herbal products imported from overseas. Products are then distributed to stores within Canada. NOTE: only minimal re-packaging of damaged products is allowed as there is no designated hand sink other than inside the staff washroom. > Walk-in cooler: 5C; used for quality control of dry products. No storage of potentially hazardous products. > All products are stored above the floor on shelves and/or wooden pallets. **Products stored in the middle of the upper storage level need to be placed on pallets. > Pest control services are provided monthly by A Plus Pest Control. Most recent report available is from September 2, 2022 - rodent activity was found in the warehouse with 4 catches. **Continue to follow all recommendations by pest control. ***Ensure all areas of the premises are accessible for pest control service. The receiving door at the North side of the warehouse is damaged on the bottom half, leaving air gaps along the bottom of the door. Owner has already made plans to have the door replaced. In the meantime, will be sealing the gaps for pest control.
