208 - Foods obtained from unapproved sources [s. 11]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Seven packaged jars of Amla Pickle (2 lbs each) were present in the back storage section with the note "return" written over them with other dented jars that will be returned to the supplier. The Amla pickle had a label that stated "Manisha Sweets & Restaurant LTD 27100 Fraser Highway Aldergrove BC" on them however this operation is not health approved and it was brought to the attention of the district EHO that the business is closed. Recent invoices for the pickled food from Manisha Sweets & Restaurant were not available on-site and invoices from earlier this year were available (photos were taken). Operator's wife stated that the supplier is still the same, provided their phone number, and stated that the supplier would sometimes exchange the pickled food for groceries sold at the food store and would not always leave an invoice or receipt and would document the product in their "book". Operator's wife stated that the supplier had met them earlier this year in person to promote the sale of the pickled food products, had provided them with samples and had stated that he is from Manisha Sweets & Restaurant in Aldergrove B.C.
Corrective Action(s): All seven jars of the Amla Pickle were opened and discarded into the garbage dumpster and then bleached during the inspection by the Operator's wife. Do not obtain food at the food store from unapproved sources and do not obtain food from Operators that do not have health approval to be producing and distributing food products. Ensure receipts and invoices are kept for all food products on-site. Only obtain food from approved sources.
Violation Score: 9
