Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11160 - CCLR s.16(3)(a) - A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation: Upon inspection of the infant yard, there was an entrapment space under the ramp that a child could potentially fit through and/or get stuck.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the yard is enclosed and is free from harm.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated January 30, 2020 there were 40 children and 9 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response.Licensing will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.

Licensing had a discussion with staff about safe items to use for attaching items to the walls in the Infant room and not storing heavier items up high.Staff stated that they will relocate a few items.
