Observation: Ice cream cones stored on top of gelato display cooler at eye level where customers can reach.
Corrective Action(s): Either keep the cones in another location that customers cannot easily reach or put up a barrier in front of the cones. Cones moved during inspection.

502 - In operator’s absence, no staff on duty has FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent [s. 10(2)]
Observation: Only one staff on site at start of inspection, that staff member stated they did not have the FoodSafe certification.
Corrective Action(s): Send more staff for FoodSafe training, hire more staff with FoodSafe certification or owner/operator must stay on site during operational hours.

Note: Display cooler on defrost mode during inspection, monitor and adjust/repair if temperature does not stay below 40F (4C).

General observations:
√ All other coolers ≤4°C, Freezers ≤ -18°C
√ Food up off floor ≥6”, good stock rotation noted
√ Hand wash stations fully stocked with hot and cold running water, liquid soap and paper towel
√ Bleach sanitizer available though was too strong (only 2mL bleach is required in 1L water). Test strips available during inspection.
√ Three compartment sink stocked
√ Equipment appeared to be in good working order
√ General sanitation and maintenance is very good
√ No signs of pest infestation noted
√ Thermometers present.
