Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulation and the applicable Director of Licensing Standards of Practice. All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation: Upon review of the 3 staff files licensing noted one file did not contain any evidence the individual's early childhood educator certificate had been verified.

Corrective Action(s): The Licensee has a system in place for documenting the verification of individual's early childhood educator certificates however this one file did not contain this information.

Comments

At the inspection dated, March 10, 2021 there were 6 children and 3 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was noted and any actions required by the Manager is included here. As a part of this routine inspection a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic this report was reviewed with the Manager at the time of the inspection. This report was written off-site (time spent: .33)
and a copy was sent to the Manager.
