Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
MEDICATION: 16080 - CCALA s.7(1)(b)(i) - A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,
Observation: Three containers of diaper cream have expired and lotion for two children is not in the original container and no permission to apply the cream has been obtained from the families.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all diaper creams have a current expiry date and if a family requests any lotions are applied to their child, the lotion is in the original container and written instructions on when to apply the lotion is provided by the family.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated December 7, 2023 there were four children and two staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the manager and a copy will be emailed to the manager.
The following were discussed:
An area of fencing is becoming loose in the yard. The fencing does not pose a risk to children and a work order has been submitted to have the fence repaired.
