Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation: The copy of the certificate validation in the staff file was expired.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the system is in place to verify the certificate and the current copy of the validation is included in the staff file.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated February, 2023 there were 12 children in the care of two staff.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
-Replacing of the certificate posted on the wall for one of the staff with the current certificate.

The contents of this inspection report was reviewed with the staff as the manger is away on vacation, prior to the inspection report being written off-site, therefore no signature attached.
