Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there was 1 exposed electrical outlet in the 30 mos - school age room
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a safe environment is provided at all times

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation: Upon testing the water temperature in the 30 mos-school age room, the water temperature was 50.4 degrees Celsius
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the water temperature does not exceed 49 degrees Celsius

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Upon inspection, there was not enough food/water/items to mitigate and respond to and recover from any emergency. A couple children were missing emergency supplies also.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the emergency supplies are available to respond to an emergency

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated April 29,2019 there were 18 children and 5 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified . Licensee willprovide Licensing with a written response as to the corrective actions taken.Licensing will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:

· Lead in the Water

· Reportable Incident Bulletin

A discussion took place about proper diaper changing procedures and the importance of conducting playground checks.
