Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations

STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry, Observation: Licensing reviewed staff files and observed that the certificate for one staff was not verified. Corrective Action(s): Please verify certificates using the system established by the ECE registry. Date to be Corrected: May 8, 2019

Comments

Summary of Inspection At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified and Licensing provided a date for compliance. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The following was discussed: Promoting Active Play in the program Active Supervision Lead in the Water Additional information that can be included in the Abuse Policy Additional information that can be included in the Screen Use Policy Ways to keep record of notification if a parent or guardian was notified of an illness or injury involving their child while in care. The following resources were provided: Reportable Incident Bulletin Fact sheet- Lead in drinking water Visit the CCFL website at www.fraserhealth.ca/childcare for additional resources, and links to the Legislation (CCALA and CCLR).
