Comments

- Premises roasts nuts on site and sells dried fruits and baked goods. All dried fruits and baked goods are obtained from approved sources.
- Bakery operations have been moved to another premises in North Vancouver. Most bakery equipment has been removed. Bakery cooler units in back were unplugged and unused.
- Hand wash station in the roasting room and at the warewashing sink had soap, paper towel, hot and cold running water.
- Bleach available on site. Staff member on duty said that they make the sanitizer solution during operation when food is being processed.
- Reviewed manual ware washing procedures at time of inspection - no concerns. 3 drain plugs available.
** Obtain chlorine test strips to verify concentration of sanitizer solution **
- No perishable foods in display case cooler by the front register. Ensure unit is able to maintain 4C or less before storing perishable foods in it.
- Most foods for sale are self serve bulk foods. Baked goods are from the approved business in North Vancouver (Cast Iron Bakery).
- Bulk food bins had covers with scoops stored outside of the bins on hooks (staff supervise customer bulk food dispensing). A few new gravity fed bulk food containers have been added.
- Overall general sanitation satisfactory. No obvious signs of pest activity at time of inspection.
- Noted a sealer machine added at the front of the store near the register. Reviewed its purpose and use. Customers request an empty nut assortment tray which are stored behind the register. The customers then fill up the tray themselves and put on the lid for the tray and give it to the staff member. The staff then seal the lidded tray for the customer (ie. no food handling).
- During busier times of the year the premises premakes baskets of assorted nuts that are sealed. Operator confirmed that this is done in the approved food handling areas (ie. roasting area) where there is adequate counter space and a hand wash station conveniently located.
