Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance with the exception of the away playground.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: During a review of 7 staff files, it was found that 1 has an expired CRC.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are complete.

STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation: During a review of 7 staff files, it was found that 1 certificate was missing a validation from the ECE Registry.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: During a review of 9 children's files, it was found that 1 child was missing an MSP #.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children's files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During a review of 9 children's files, it was found that 9 files were missing start dates.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children's files are complete.

Comments

At this inspection there were 18 children and 6 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee will send a written response addressing the contraventions and Licensing will review the written response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

3-5 children were observed practicing for a Christmas concert. IT children were observed eating lunch.

A copy of the LO's business card was provided.
