Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: On the outdoor playground licensing observed:
-The privacy screen at the side fence had ripped providing space accessible for entrapment. The licensee removed the screen during the inspection.
-Licensing observed some debris such as a snack wrapper, and a tissue on the playground while children were playing. Removed at the time of inspection.
-The outdoor sandbox had a platform with one board rotting, providing a risk for tripping. Licensee said they will be using cones a visual reminder for children to not use the area of the platform until they can repair or replace the sandbox in the spring (June 2023)
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture and equipment within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 11 children, the licensee and the facility manger present.
At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

Reviewed the repayment agreement policies.
Reviewed the Criminal record check systems with Licensee.
