Introduction

An unannounced routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulationand the applicable Director of Licensing Standards of Practice. All areas of the facility were assessed for compliance except for the facility's policies and procedures as these were reviewed during the previous routine inspection.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #SMOY-BCMN2D have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
MEDICATION: 16030 - CCLR s.53(2)(a) - A licensee must ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, except that a child may have access to his or her own medication if (a) the child's parent has instructed the licensee to permit this.
Observation: Upon review of children's medical conditions the Manager indicated that some children keep their medication in their backpack. Licensing discussed having medication stored in a manner that is inaccessible to other children.

Corrective Action(s): The Manager will discuss this with the children's families and work out a solution to address this issue.

Comments

At the inspection dated, February 5, 2020 there were 2 staff and 10 children present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified and any action required by the Manager is included.

As part of this routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Licensing Officer left information for the Manager regarding sanitizers in childcare facilities.
