Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12060 - CCLR s.19(1)(c) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.
Observation: A record of the person's work history was not obtained for one employee.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure record of resumes for all staff prior to employment.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: The school age program did not have record of last years emergency drill.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure yearly record of the emergency drills (earthquake).
Date to be Corrected: The end of this year

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: One care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure care plans are reviewed annually.

Comments

At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensing provided a date for addressing the contraventions and is requesting a written response by June 14th advising on compliance.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Manager and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
