Observation: 1. Reach-in cooler in the food store was above 4 degrees C (measured between 6 degrees C to 9 degrees C).

2. Shatter-resistant light cover was missing over the light bulb in the second walk-in-cooler (near the back area).

Corrective Action(s): 1. Continue keeping the reach-in refrigeration unit in the food store empty of potentially hazardous food until it can be consistently maintained at 4 degrees C or less. This refrigeration unit was observed to being used to store only pop (shelf stable drinks) during the inspection. Operator informed over phone that he intends to use this refrigeration unit for storage for non-potentially hazardous, shelf stable food only at the time.

If you decide to use this refrigeration unit for the storage of potentially hazardous food in the future, ensure to re-service or adjust this refrigeration unit so that it consistently maintains a temperature of 4 degrees C or less prior to stocking it with potentially hazardous food, and contact the Environmental Health Officer for a follow up inspection.

2. Install a shatter-resistant light cover over the light bulb in the walk-in-cooler to protect food products from any potential physical contamination from incidental glass breakage.

Ensure enough staff successfully complete a FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent training course to fulfill this requirement; Correct within 1 month and provide an update to the Environmental Health Officer.
