209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation:
The exterior storage room had food and items that will touch food (wrappers, drink lids, etc.) stored beside and with non-food items (seasonal decorations, garden hose, etc). The food and items that will touch food can become dirty/contaminated from the non-food items.
Corrective Action(s):
Immediately rearrange the items in the exterior storage room so food items are grouped and stored together and separate from non-food items.

305 - Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION):
There is a space at the bottom of the back door which could allow pests in. Pests carry diseases and can damage your food products.
Corrective Action(s):
Install a door guard or door sweep at the base of the door to prevent the entry of pests. During the inspection, the manager installed a door guard.

306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation:
There was debris and built up oil of the following areas, which will attract pests:
- on the floor of the exterior storage room
- on the outter sides of the flat grill, between the flatgrill and the tables beside it
Corrective Action(s):
Clean these areas today and insure it is done more frequently.

Observation:
There are a number of non-food items and items that do not operate the businesses (seasonal decorations). These items may create an environment where pests can live as they are not used often, or the items will contaminate foods.
Corrective Action(s):
Remove all non-food items from the facility and store off-site.

Comments

A routine inspection was conducted, the following observations were made:
- Coolers below 4C; freezers below -15C; hot holding units above 60C; thermometers present; temperatures recorded daily; and reviewed temperature logs (all in order).
- High temperature dishwasher had a rinse cycle temperature of 72.5C, at the plate's surface, as per max/min thermometer.
- Quats sanitizer was 200ppm in cloth bucket, and 3-comp. sink warewashing.
- All foods stored in food grade containers; labeled; date coded; covered; stored in groups with proteins separate from non-proteins; and 6" off the floor on shelves or pallets.
- No expired foods in use. FIFO rules being followed.
- FoodSafe certified staff present.
- General sanitation level is good. The exhaust canopy and filters were clean.
- No signs of pests. Orkin Pest Company contracted monthly, to monitor for pests. Reviewed June's report, all in order.
- COVID-19 Mitigation Plan present and in place. Staff wear mask; staff working 2m apart (only 2 workers each shift); barriers at the front service area; markings on floor to ensure customers are 2m apart; markings on floor to direct customer flow to prevent congestion and congregation; and increase cleaning frequency being done.
- Discussed inspection results with the manager, who understood and agreed. No signature obtained due to pandemic.
