Reason for Investigation - Care and supervision
Report of Findings
On November 15, 2021, Licensing received a complaint regarding Care and Supervision.

The complainant provided the following:
- A person in care was provided foods on several occassions that did not promote their cultural, religious, and spiritual customs
- The medical doctor was not notified after the person in care was involved in a reportable incident

All areas of the complaint was fully investigated. The evidence was obtained through interviews and documentation.

Licensing determined the following contraventions:
- Section 77(2)(b) of the Residential Care Regulations - Reportable Incidents
- Section 82 of the Residential Care Regulations - Implementation of Care Plans
- Section 7 (1)(b)(ii) of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Standards to be maintained, Schedule 2 (c) Rights to health, safey and dignity.
Substantiated Contraventions: Evidence for this summary report is based on a combination of the Licensing Officer’s observations, a review of facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of the investigation.

Observation: Licensing determined a PIC's care plan was not followed.
Corrective action: Corrective action required.
39080 - RCR s.77(2)(b)Subject to subsection 77(3), if a person in care is involved in a reportable incident, the licensee must immediately notify (b) the medical practitioner or nurse practitioner responsible for the care of the person in care.
Observation: Licensing determined a medical practitioner was not notified when a PIC was involved in an RI.

40020 - CCALA s.7(1)(b)(ii) Schedule 1-1(b)A care plan developed based on his or her unique abilities, physical, social and emotional needs, and cultural and spiritual preferences.
Observation: Licensing determined a PIC's religious and cultural preferences were not maintained.
