Observation: Display cooler was at 8.3 degrees C at the time of inspection. Display cooler did not contain any potentially hazardous food at the time of inspection. Staff however mentioned that cheese is sometimes placed into this cooler. Two advertisement signs for "ham sandwich and sandwich" were also placed in this cooler however potentially hazardous food was not present inside it. Only non-potentially hazardous pop/drinks were present inside it.
Corrective Action(s): Repair/re-service/adjust the cooler so that it maintains a temperature at or below 4 degrees C. Contact the district Environmental Health Officer for a follow up inspection next week (business card was provided). Do not store any potentially hazardous food (e.g. cheese and sandwiches) until the display cooler is able to maintain a temperature at or below 4 degrees C (40 degrees F).

Comments

Handsinks near the food handling area and both washrooms were adequately supplied with liquid soap, hot and cold running water,and paper towels.
2-compartment sink was operational and was equipped with drain plugs.
Mop sink was operational.
Dishwasher final rinse temperature was 72 degrees C (71 degrees C or hotter) at the plate.
Under-the-counter cooler and domestic cooler were at or below 4 degrees C.
One door freezer and freezer component of the domestic cooler were at or below -18 degrees C.
Refrigeration units were equipped with thermometers.
Ice machine was in a clean condition and the scoop was stored separately in a clean container.
Reminder: Clean and sanitize the scoop and storage container at least every 4 hours and when contamination is possible.
No signs of recent pest activity were observed at the time of inspection.
100-200 ppm chlorine sanitizer was present in the labelled spray bottle.
Staff member on-site has completed FOODSAFE Level 1 recently and was certified in FOODSAFE Level 1 valid until February 18 2023 based on her certificate.
