Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 1) Handsink near the cash register had a preparation utensil inside it.
2) Handsink in the back kitchen was obstructed with a table.
Corrective Action(s): Owner/Operator made corrections to leave enough clearance around the handsinks and not obstruct them. Preparation utensil was placed into a ware-washing sink.

209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 1) Frozen meat patties were uncovered inside the upright one door freezer, which had ice build-up inside it.
2) Peanut butter was kept placed inside an open metal container at the counter.
Corrective Action(s): 1) Meat patties were placed inside covered food grade materials and transferred into the walk-in-freezer. Owner advised staff member to defrost the empty freezer and remove the ice buildup.
2) Owner/Operator transferred the peanut butter into a clean stainless steel container. Make sure the contents of metal containers are immediately transferred into a food grade container after opening them.

Observation: Owner/Operator's FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate expired on July 29, 2018.
Corrective Action(s): Make sure that you (the Owner/Operator) take and pass a FOODSAFE Level 1 course to renew your FOODSAFE Level 1 training; Correct by December 31, 2018. Provide a copy of your valid FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate to the district Environmental Health Officer of Fraser Health.

Second routine inspection was conducted for this fiscal year.
Permit to operate was posted.
Handsinks were supplied with liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and paper towels.

Both walk-in-coolers were at or below 4 degrees C / 40 degrees F.
Other coolers were at or below 4 degrees C / 40 degrees F.
One under-the-counter cooler was above 4 degrees C however was not being used for storage of potentially hazardous food. Owner is aware that it must be maintained at or below 4 degrees C and equipped with an accurate thermometer if potentially hazardous food is to be placed inside it.
Walk-in-freezer and other freezers were at or below -18 degrees C.
A limited amount of ingredients (cheese and sliced tomatoes) were stored inside inserts that were immersed in ice. Internal temperature was at or below 4 degrees C.
Thermometers were available inside refrigeration units.

200 ppm QUATS sanitizer was available inside two spray bottles and the dispenser at the 3-compartment sink.
Ware-washing was not occurring at the time of inspection. The wash, rinse, sanitize, and air dry method was reviewed with the Owner/Operator.
Food premises was free of signs of recent pest activity at the time of inspection.
Single-service take-out containers were being stored in their original plastic packaging in the dry storage room downstairs.
Dry goods were being stored on pallets off the floor.
