Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of practice (DoLSoP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection it was observed:
-The door to the garage, the door to the home were unlocked. The nap room area was accessible to children while at play.
-The cabinet next to the napping children in a crib was unlatched which contained cleaning products.
-A cord that supplies power to the video monitor was accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under supervision of employees.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 2 children, and the facility manger present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
Creating systems to ensure the door to the home and garage are inaccessible.
A temporary placement request was reviewed for September, and manager stated that there was an enclosed area which may be used for Infants in care. It was discussed that all children should have access to the play areas, and not be contained to any one area, unless for a short time for safety reasons.
Review of the records required to be on file for anticipated hiring of a staff.
Review of how information is relayed to parents daily was discussed, and the manager stated that diaper changes and other information is shared verbally.
