Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: LO observed and discussed with the Manager re: fire drill and emergency plan
There were no records indicating that the emergency plan was practiced once a year.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that both monthly fire drills and yearly emergency drill is practiced and recorded.

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15010 - CCLR s.14(4)(a) - A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.
Observation: A garbage can with a lid was not available within the washroom.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a covered container for soiled clothing, i.e. pull ups and diapers is available within the diapering area ( washroom).

Comments

At this inspection dated March 7, 2024 there were 6 children and the Licensee present. A walk-through of the home was completed today.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to take corrective action to bring facility into compliance. The contravention noted in this report were reviewed with the Licensee during today's inspection.
This inspection report was completed off site and emailed along with the Risk Assessment to the facility.

LO discussed and shared the following resources with the Manager onsite:
- Napping equipment, i.e. playpen use ( see resources below)
- Nap time supervision
- Nutrition & Food ( information on the food, i.e. snacks provided by the facility must be available to parents)
