Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: During an audit of the staff file binder, it was noted that five current staff do not have site spectific CRC letters, there are letters present from previous employers however there is no way for Licensing to determine whether they are valid or have been tampered with.
Corrective Action(s): All active staff must have site specific, valid Criminal Record Checks

Comments

At the inspection dated June 24, 2019 there were 32 children and 8 staff present.
Licensing was accompanied by a student with the Justice Institute, and conducted a walk through of the physical premise with the Licensee today. Together we reviewed the staff files.

No coded violations were noted during today's inspection; no written response is requested at this time.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Temporary Placements
· Lead in the Water
