Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Files for five children were reviewed. One file did not contain information for an emergency contact.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all files contain emergency contact information.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated December 12, 2022 there were four children and one staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the manager and written off site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager.
The following were discussed:
If a child's parent states the child has an allergy ensure the following information is available:
What the child is allergic to.
What are the symptoms of an allergic reaction.
What do staff need to do in the case of an allergic reaction.
It is recommended that applications to renew criminal record checks are submitted four weeks before the expiry date to allow time for processing.
