301 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not maintained in sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Both bleach sanitizer spray bottles were too strong - test strip bleached out.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure bleach is maintained at 100ppm to 200ppm. Excessive concentrations of bleach may be toxic for humans. Bleach was properly mixed at 100ppm at the time of inspection.

208 - Foods obtained from unapproved sources [s. 11]
Observation: Facility has a product known as Milk Bedam provided the Manohar located at 8120 - 128th Street, Surrey. Traditional method of making milk bedam involves the boiling of milk.
Corrective Action(s): Any facility which processes dairy may require a dairy licence. Manohar Vegetarian Bakery does not have a dairy licence. Do not sell the product until it can be determined how the product is made.

209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation: Food samples are stored in a clam shell and customers are able to reach into container with their hands - samples are not distributed in a sanitary manner.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all foods are served in a manner which prevents potential contamination. For example, operator can provide samples using tongs, single use gloves, spoons, foods can be proportioned, etc.

307 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not of suitable design/material [s. 16; s. 19]
Observation: Sheet of unfinished wood was placed under the upright cooler and carpet was located in front of the washroom.
Corrective Action(s): All surfaces must be smooth, non-absorbent, and easily cleanable. Remove cardboard and unfinished wood and replace with suitable materials.

308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
Observation: Double glass door cooler was at 6C to 7C on the bottom shelf. Top shelf was at 3C and middle shelf was at 5C. Plastic liners were on the shelving units.
Corrective Action(s): Cooler units must be able to maintain 4C or less on a consistent basis. Remove liners on the shelving unit - affects air flow and temperatures. Liners were removed at the time of inspection.

Comments

-Front display coolers were at 4C.
-Upright metal cooler was at 3C.
-Upright freezer was at -18C.
-Hot potentially hazardous foods are currently time tracked. Food items are either sold or discarded after 2 hours. Records are maintained for time tracking.
-Cleaning and sanitizing carried out in 3-compartment sink. Bleach was tested at 100ppm.
-Handwash station accessible and supplied with hot and cold running water, liquid hand soap, and single use paper towels.
-General sanitation good at the time of inspection.
-Minor fruit fly activity observed in the back area.
-Washroom clean and well maintained
*Various food items are still missing labels. Obtain proper labels from the franchiser.
-FoodSafe Level 1 valid until July 28, 2024.
*Mop sink has been relocated from the oven area to the washroom. There are no concerns with this modification.
