Introduction

An unscheduled Routine Inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Of 4 staff records reviewed, 2 were missing record of immunization.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to have evidence that the person has complied with the provinces immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Of 4 staff records reviewed, 2 staff records contained expired ECE certification verification
Corrective Action(s): Licensee must not employ a person in the community care facility as an educator or and assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualification], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
The COVID-19 Pre-screening was conducted at the door.
During today’s inspection, there were 3 children, 1 staff and the facility manger present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
Outdoor water play bulletin was reviewed and discussed.
Storage of knives after use was discussed.
Licensing went through the process for ECE certificate validation with manager.
