Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation: Manager name was not posted.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the name of the manager and phone number are posted in a prominent place

STAFFING: 12070 - CCLR s.19(1)(d) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.
Observation: Copies of recent first aid certificate for staff was not obtained.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the copies of first aid certificate with new expiry date is included in the staff file

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
· During today’s inspection, there were 15 children, and the facility manger/licensee and two staff present.
· At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a written corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
· Discussed having all the logs and records i.e. fire drills and yearly emergency evacuation in a single location at the facility.
