Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

A Covid-19 Risk screening assessment was completed with the facility prior to this inspection.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Upon inspection, licensing observed a wooden panel in the outdoor playground
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times

STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation: Upon review of 3 staff files, 2 staff were missing character references
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are complete

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13030 - CCLR s.22(3) - A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.
Observation: Upon inspection, no fire drill system was available

Comments

At the inspection dated July 19, 2021 there were 5 children and 3 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required by the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool will be completed and a copy will be provided.
