Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP).

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area:
- There is a wood panel falling off the patio posing a risk to the children if it were to fall. The licensee has contacted someone to come over the weekend to cut the panel.
- There are two large screws portruding out on the slide located on the climbing structure that poses a risk to the children. The licensee has attempted to hammer the screws down, however they are still protruding. The licensee will be covering the screws today and if it is not suitable enough, the structure will be removed.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

Comments

Licensing received and reviewed the Licensee's written response to the routine inspection. The follow- up inspection was an opportunity to ensure all the coded violations have been addressed.
