Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Upon inspection of the facility files, 5 children were not signed out in a 3 month time frame
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all children have an arrival and departure time documented.

Comments

At the inspection dated April 1, 2019 there were 21 children and 8 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response as to the corrective action taken. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

It was recommended that any old medication, be sent back to the corresponding families and that the previously attending children's care plans be filed away as to not to confuse staff.

It was also recommended to staff to remove the ladder from the under cover area so it does not pose a fall hazard to the children.
