Introduction

An unscheduled routineinspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15010 - CCLR s.14(4)(a) - A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.
Observation: Although the facility manager said that soiled diapers are placed in plastic bags and disposed in an uncovered bin located outdoors just outside the front door, Licensing observed that soiled diapers were not being disposed in a covered container.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that soiled diapers are disposed in a covered container.

Comments

At the inspection dated Apr. 22, 2024 there were 4 children present.The manager was on-site and assisted with the inspection. At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee includes a written response. The contravention noted in this report was reviewed with the facility during the inspection.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following recommendations/discussions were provided:
- Reportable Incident procedures
- Attendance record procedures
