301 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not maintained in sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 1. Mugs and plates stored under the syrup station is covered with small black pellets that appears to be cockroach droppings. Operator initiated cleaning and sanitizing food contact surfaces.
2. Boxes of single use utensils (e.g., plastic spoons) under the panini machine are contaminated with small black pellets that appears to be cockroach droppings. Single use utensils discarded.
3. Observed a mug which holds single use wooden stirring sticks with small black pellets that appears to be cockroach droppings. Stirring sticks discarded.
4. Inside of the ice machine had accumulation of moulds and mildew like deposits. The operator discarded ice and initiated cleaning/sanitizing process.

Observation: (Repeated violation) Container of drinks stored directly on the floor. This is a repeated violation from last inspection (report #JGUU-C9XV6D).
Corrective Action(s): All items on the premise is to be >15cm off the floor to facilitate cleaning, to better observe pest activity and to protect foods from water on the floor. Correct this by: immediately.

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: Observed 1-2 live cockroaches in the back (dishwashing area) and 4-5 live cockroaches in the front (drink station). All appears to be nymphs. Cockroach droppings and musty odour inside of every undercounter cabinets (especially under the hand washing station).

Corrective Action(s): Clean and sanitize areas impacted by cockroach droppings.
Improve sanitation and remove standing water.
Continue to work with your pest control company for treatments.
Correct this by: September 21, 2022.

Observation: 1. Items that are not required for day to day operation (e.g., paint canisters, old looking boxes on the floor, etc.) may be providing harbouring and breeding sites for cockroaches.
2. Standing water observed near the mop sink. Water dripping noted under the hand washing sink.
Corrective Action(s): 1. Remove items that are not required for day to day operation. Any remaining items to be stored >15cm off the floor. Correct this by: September 21, 2022.
2. Clean and sanitize areas with standing/dripping water. Correct this by: immediately.

Observation: Observed water dripping down from a hand washing station basin.

Comments

Routine inspection conducted:
Hand washing station is fully equipped with hot and cold running water, liquid soap and paper towels.
All coolers measured at 4C or less.
All freezers at adequate temperature - products are frozen.
High temperature dishwasher's sanitizing cycle was measured at 73C at the plate level.
Weekly pest control in place. No report to review at this time. The operator is to have a copy of next pest control report onsite for review. Please attempt to find last two previous pest reports as well.
