Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Below items were accessible to the children in outdoor play space:
- Swimming pool is not gated and/or covered and locked
- Various building materials, ladder, household items, gardening tools and equipment
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided to the children while in care

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: A care plan does not include the course of action recommended by health care professionals for a child requiring additional support. Discussion was had to develop this in partnership with the parent.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that child needing a care plan has a current plan in place.

Summary of Inspection
At today’s inspection there were 1 child and the Licensee present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to take corrective actions to bring the facility into compliance. Please submit your response by below date to Licensing for review. As part of this Routine Inspection, a walk through of the home was completed. This report and the facility risk assessment were reviewed with the Licensee onsite and a copy was provided.
