Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION):
The hand sink was covered with a portable counter top and not accessible for use. Hand sinks require to be unblocked and accessible at all times to allow staff to wash hands.
Corrective Action(s):
Immediately remove the counter and do NOT block it. During the inspection, the counter was relocated and the hand sink is accessible.

209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation:
1) Food, food containers, and equipment are being stored on the floor in the front retail area, and on the floor of the back storage room. All food and items that will touch food must be stored 6" off the floor on shelves.
2) Postage packages (postal depot) being stored in front food processing area with food and equipment. The postal depot business must be operated in a separate area than the food processing area as the packages will contaminate food and equipment.
Corrective Action(s):
1) Install more shelving units in the back storage area so all foods are removed from the floor and stored on the shelves.

2) Relocate the postal depot business so it is separate from the food processing area. It is recommended removing/altering the location of drink coolers to make space for the postal packages. Have a separate area/shelf in the back storage room to store the items.

Observation:
Owner has added items to the menu (hot dogs, slushies, soft serve ice cream, and sandwiches) and has NOT submitted FoodSafe Plans for these new menu items for approval. Approval granted to process and serve the added food items on condition that the existing dishwashing sinks basins are adequate for washing & sanitizing food equipment.
Corrective Action(s):
Develop and submit FoodSafety Plans, to our office, for all the new menu items for approval.

Observation:
During the inspection, there was no staff present that possessed the FoodSafe certificate. There MUST be one person working, at all times, that possesses the FoodSafe certified staff.

The operator's husband is require to obtain the FoodSafe Level 1 certificate.

Comments

A routine inspection was conducted, the following observations were made:
- Coolers 4C or colder; freezers were -16C or colder; hot dog machine was above 60C; and thermometers present.
- Hand sink stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- No expired foods for sale or in use. FIFO rules followed.
- Bleach present for sanitization.
- General sanitation is good. No signs of pests.
- Staff use utensils to serve and dispense foods. Disposable dishware used to serve food in.
