Introduction

All care categories were inspected during an unscheduled routine inspection to assess compliance w/:
• the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA)
• the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR)
• relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practices (DLSP)

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: FHA reviewed all employees' files. An employee's CRC isn't licensee-specific.
Corrective Action(s): Please visit https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/crime-prevention/criminal-record-check/sharing-results re. how to apply for a CRC share. In the meantime, this employee can't work alone w/ children or assist w/ diapering/toileting.

1 violation was observed today, in which corrective action includes obtaining employee documentation.

FHA discussed key points from BCCDC's "Public Health Guidance for Child Care Settings" (http://www.bccdc.ca/Health-Info-Site/Documents/COVID_public_guidance/Guidance_Child_Care.pdf).

This FIR & the facility risk assessment tool were completed @ the Burnaby Health Protection office & emailed to the corporation director on 03/May/2022.
